On November 21, 2025, Sinochem Dongda (Zibo) Co., Ltd., as the director unit of the Polyol Professional Committee of the China Polyurethane Industry Association, organized and hosted the "High-Quality Development Conference of the Polyol Industry & the 14th Scientific Research, Production and Technology Exchange Conference of the Polyol Branch" in Quanzhou, Fujian. Centering on the high-quality development of the polyol industry, the conference brought together experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from domestic research institutes, leading enterprises and industry organizations. Through keynote speeches, closed-door discussions and other forms, it explored technological innovation, market trends and future development directions of the industry, building consensus for the innovation, upgrading and sustainable development of the sector.

The polyurethane industry is a core segment in China’s new materials field. As a key raw material in the polyurethane industrial chain, the technological upgrading and industrial layout of polyols directly determine the development height of the entire industry. At present, the polyol industry is facing challenges such as cost fluctuations, homogeneous competition in low-end production capacity and intensified international competition, while also embracing opportunities including green transformation, high-end breakthroughs and emerging market expansion. As the director unit of the conference, Sinochem Dongda proactively assumed its industry responsibilities. Relying on its technological accumulation and industrial influence in the polyol sector, it accurately identified the industry’s pain points and development directions, building a high-end platform integrating technical exchange, trend analysis and consensus building for the conference, and emerging as a core link driving the industry’s transformation and development.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Zhu Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Sinochem Dongda, delivered a keynote speech. He systematically reviewed the development achievements of China’s polyether polyol industry over the past five years, and also faced up to core industry issues such as homogeneous competition, low capacity utilization rate and pending breakthroughs in high-end technological barriers. The industry data disclosed by Zhu Jian in his speech not only represented the development outcomes of the entire industry, but also embodied the important contributions of Sinochem Dongda: the national output of polyether polyols in 2024 increased by nearly 30% compared with 2020, and as a leading enterprise in the industry, Sinochem Dongda’s capacity optimization and technological upgrading provided key support for the industry’s scale growth; in the first half of 2025, the industry’s export volume increased by nearly 20% year-on-year, with the export growth rate to emerging markets exceeding 50%. Thanks to its international layout and product competitiveness, Sinochem Dongda has become a backbone force driving the "going global" of China’s polyether polyols. Targeting the pain points of industry development, Zhu Jian put forward four major development directions: optimizing industrial structure, strengthening industry self-discipline, adhering to innovation-driven development, and deepening open cooperation. These are not only a blueprint for the industry’s future, but also the development guidelines of Sinochem Dongda itself, pointing out the path for the high-quality development of the industry.

During the session of technical exchanges, Sinochem Dongda demonstrated its strength in cutting-edge research and development in the polyol field. Dr. Wang Haoren, Senior R&D Engineer of the company, delivered a keynote speech titled Research Progress in Catalytic Systems for Polyether Polyol Synthesis. Focusing on the core technical links of polyether polyol synthesis, he shared in detail the company’s latest achievements and R&D directions in catalytic system innovation. The research results not only provided key technical references for the industry to improve product performance and reduce production costs, but also directly reflected Sinochem Dongda’s investment and breakthroughs in core technology R&D— in recent years, Sinochem Dongda has continuously increased R&D investment, achieved technological breakthroughs in high-end product fields such as ultra-low unsaturation polyethers and high-functionality specialty polyethers, and promoted the proportion of specialty polyether products to nearly 30%, becoming an important driver of the industry’s product structure upgrading.

As a forerunner in the green transformation of the industry, Sinochem Dongda highlighted its corporate responsibility under the "dual carbon" strategy. Through process optimization, energy substitution and cutting-edge technology R&D, it has achieved a significant reduction in energy consumption per unit of product and a marked improvement in water recycling rate. Its R&D and industrialization practices of green products have provided a replicable model for the sustainable development of the industry.
The successful convening of this conference is not only a grand event for the polyol industry to build development consensus, but also a concentrated display of Sinochem Dongda’s industry status and comprehensive strength. As the director unit of the Polyol Professional Committee, Sinochem Dongda not only provided comprehensive organizational support for the conference, but also injected core impetus into the high-quality development of the industry with its own technological achievements, development ideas and practical experience. Looking forward, Sinochem Dongda will continue to uphold the development philosophy of "innovation, coordination, green development and openness", join hands with industry peers to deepen industry-university-research cooperation, promote the R&D of high-end specialty polyethers, the industrialization of green products and the expansion of international markets. With the responsibility of a leading enterprise, it will lead China’s polyol industry to transform from "scale expansion" to "high-quality development", helping China’s polyurethane industry occupy a more core position in global competition.
